Letters to My Life Book Cover Design
Recently, I was hired by online writer Jen Vermet to design a cover for her book Letters to My Life. The book is deeply personal, filled with 28 letters to people, places, and things.
Overall, we wanted to go with a minimalist design with a touch of whimsy, and playfulness. The blues and pinks evoke wonder and a sense of magic with pink being warm and inviting, carrying a sense of lightheartedness, while the blue brings calmness and introspection, similar to the sense of the ocean. I added a slight gradient to the colors to tie into the idea of emotional gradations, since these letters are full of emotional expression. This gives it a more ethereal and fluid feel. Because Jen’s book is a collection of letters, we used her actual handwriting for the title font, making it extremely personal and organic.
"Working with Sandra on my book cover was an absolute joy. She brought my vision to life with thoughtful questions, creative insights, and unwavering support throughout the design process. Her collaborative energy made the experience seamless and incredibly enjoyable—I can’t recommend her enough!"
