Self-reflection is Essential for Growth, Here’s What You Need to Reflect On Today

Self-reflection is a key ingredient for learning and growth.

But have you been making the time for it?

Here's what you need to stop and reflect on:

Experience:

You know that meaningful experience that completely changed you? You'll want to take the time to do some deep thinking about it. Slow down to reflect, digest the experience, and make sense of it.

Here are some questions to ask yourself:

  • What was meaningful about the experience?

  • What did the experience teach you?

  • How did you feel throughout the experience and afterwards?

  • What can you take from the experience with you moving forward?

Growth & Progress:

If you want to grow as a person and in specific areas of your life, reflecting on your growth and progress is vital. Acknowledge where you were and where you are now to celebrate your wins, and determine the specifics of what is next and how to get there.

Here are some questions to ask yourself:

  • How would you describe who you were a week/month/year ago?

  • How would you describe who you are now? What's changed?

  • What small and big wins did you have?

  • What do you need to do to keep progressing?

Learning:

Whatever skill or subject you've been focused on learning, you definitely need to make reflection part of your learning process. It's a necessary step to building understanding and mastery.

Here are some questions to ask yourself:

  • What have you learned so far?

  • What specific areas do you want and need to improve in?

  • What areas do you feel strong in? Why?

  • What specific steps can you take to build on your learning?

Integration:

There's a lot to reflect on and you want to make sure that you make use of that time spent reflecting. Take what you're learning about yourself and reflect on how you can integrate those learnings into your life.

Here are some questions to ask yourself:

  • What do you need to do less of or more of?

  • What habits have helped or hurt you? What will you change?

  • What breakthroughs have you had and how will you use those breakthroughs to your advantage?

  • What observations have you made about yourself that you want to examine more closely moving forward?

Be invested in your learning and growth by committing to making time for self-reflection.

What will you reflect on today?
