Finding Meaning In The Repetition

People hate repeating things.

They want something new to say, something new to do, something new to give and something new to hold.

They worry if their ideas or what they have to offer isn't novel enough.

They crave new.

"The ocean reveals its power and mystery by repeating its waves around the world. Nature replenishes the Earth by repeating the cycle of the seasons." -Mark Nepo

If the ocean with all its strength and grace can repeat itself, time and time again, and poetry can do the same, why can't we?

Why can't you?

That isn't to say you should reject novelty.

That isn't to say you should reject change.

That is to say, there are probably facets of your life, the things you do, and the things that make you you, that you feel encumbered by, simply because they aren't new.

We lose a great deal when we're constantly in search of what is new or different.

We get bored by repetition and look the other way.

We avoid things that are necessary by resisting what keeps coming up.

And these things do keep coming up.

There's a repetition of lessons you might be unwilling to learn.

Look at what keeps coming up for you.

Look closer at what is always there.

The coming and going of waves demands your attention.
